Job Summary

In anticipation of possible openings throughout the academic year and summer sessions the English Department maintains a pool of qualified persons interested in nontenuretrack teaching positions. Applications are accepted continuously for nontenure track positions and reviewed as vacancies become available. There may not be an actual vacancy at the time you apply.

Masters or doctoral degree in English
Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level
State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.

Teaching Statement that explicitly addresses: 1 how you teach writing through a sociocultural and/or culturalhistorical approach to undergraduate writing and writing research if you are interested in teaching in ISUs Writing Program; and/or 2 your approach to teaching other general education or specialty area courses in the ISU English Department if you are interested in teaching those courses.
4. Sample Course Plan and/or Syllabus: 1 a full course plan for an undergraduate writing course if you are applying to teach in the ISU Writing Program; your course plan should include a detailed schedule a clear explanation of what genres students research and produce for each major writing project how students document their learning (uptake) how projects engage course learning outcomes and your approach to assessment and grading; and/or 2 a course syllabus for general education and/or specialty area courses if you are interested in teaching those courses.
