The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The starting pay range for this position is between $22.01 $27.51/hour. We also offer generous benefits for fulltime employees which include but are not limited to:

Denver Parks and Recreation is seeking a Parks Utility Worker II to support Park Operations in the Northwest district. This is a fulltime benefitted opportunity that will perform a wide variety of general park maintenance duties and will also perform lead work over less experienced workers.This individual will have the opportunity to make an impact and grow professionally from unique experiences such as special projects volunteer project coordination small to large public event coordination and maintaining pristine complexes and high visibility parks.
This position will work Monday Friday 6:00 a.m.2:30 p.m. and will work some weekends to accommodate special events/projects or respond to snow removal.To see a map of the parks within this district please click here.

Job duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Work outdoors in parks using and maintaining various handpowered tools and motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner and demonstrating proper use as needed
Support park operations at Paco Sanchez Park and support special projects or events such as small to large permitted parks events or other special events renovation projects volunteer coordination etc.
Perform landscape maintenance duties such as turf maintenance (e.g. laying sod fertilizing mowing edging raking) irrigation (minor maintenance repair troubleshooting and use of central control systems) and ornamental/garden maintenance (planting weeding minor pruning)
Perform infrastructure maintenance and repair such as fencing asphalt concrete trails work grade work/erosion control
Exercise leadership skills over less experienced parks workers and serve as an example of proper work skills including training and supporting the development and orientation of workers
Work collaboratively and build strong working relationships with park maintenance generalists and/or specialists such as Irrigation Maintenance Technicians Horticultural Workers Park Horticulturists and other experts in unique green industry fields and skilled trades work
Perform snow removal operations such as plowing shoveling deicing
Perform various related duties as needed such as trash collection bathroom maintenance and cleaning vandalism repair/graffiti removal

Experience Requirement: One 1 year of experience performing unskilled labor work
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement
License/Certifications: Requires a valid Drivers License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
