About Us
Incorporated in 1955 Ocean Steel services several markets including Atlantic Canada the Eastern United States Bermuda and the Caribbean. Although they specialize in fabricating and erecting structural steel for buildings and bridges they also manufacture and install platework such as breechings stacks ducts penstocks process & storage tanks and custom processequipment. OceanSteels two New Brunswick plants include the original location in Saint John as well as the York Steel Plant in Fredericton which was acquired by Ocean Steel in 1995
Responsibilities:
- Metal core (MCAW) welding on structural steel building components
- Operate various welding equipment and tools to weld in various positions (i.e. Vertical/Horizontal)
- Set up wire fed welding machines manually using control buttons
- Review structural drawings for steel beams columns and other building components that form complete structures
- Operate overhead cranes to transport workpieces and metal components
Requirements:
- Successful completion of preemployment college program or equivalent experience
- Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification (Block 1
- New Brunswick Class B Welders Certificatea definite asset
- 1 to 3 years experience in structural steel welding
