Communications Specialist Content
Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national notforprofit shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides valuedriven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies pharmaceutical products local sourcing capital (equipment FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics inhospital support warehousing/logistics technology procuretopay and accounts payable.
With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental social and governance best practices. Based in Burlington ON the organization also has offices in Toronto Thunder Bay Kingston Brantford London and Chatham and a distribution center in Oakville.
We are currently recruiting for a fulltime Communications Specialist Content to support our Business Development and Communications team.
Position Overview
The Communications Specialist Content is an effective brand storyteller in words and visuals who works under the direction of the Director Marketing & Communications in collaboration with the Communications Specialist Graphics & Digital and Marketing Communications Manager(s) to develop professional B2B and internal communications that build and reinforce the Mohawk Medbuy (MMC) brand support new business activity and convey our strategy initiatives and other information to staff health care organizations suppliers government the health care sector and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Create a wide range of health carerelated businesstobusiness content including but not limited to: marketing materials social media websites/online portals/intranets emails/campaigns announcements articles company & service line backgrounders key messages PowerPoint presentations Annual Reports videos newsletters and other materials.
- Execute B2B and internal communication initiatives and campaigns in words and visuals
- Research write and create graphics / visuals for a range of media from social media posts to comprehensive wellresearched articles for MMC communications vehicles and other media
- Monitor and identify noteworthy company initiatives and information as a basis for content to MMCs various audiences
- Conduct interviews / obtain information and submissions from internal and external sources
- Industry news & information Using monitoring tools (e.g. Google Alerts) aggregate relevant news and industry developments; establish appropriate communications approach/channels to dissemination to internal staff and/or Members other stakeholders; flag high priority news that might require action by Mohawk Medbuy
- Establish and maintain a network of communications contacts at Member hospitals/health care providers sector media etc.
- Develop copy & visuals and post MMCrelated news items on appropriate platforms e.g. social media website (WordPress) online Portal intranet (SharePoint) etc.
- Curate comment and repost relevant MMC Member vendor and other news / posts on MMCs social media platforms (LinkedIn and X/Twitter)
- Internal and external email initiatives plan research write create visuals and disseminate announcements and other information using email software (Constant Contact)
- Create edit and distribute approved communications (alerts advisories letters and updates) initiated by other company departments
- Record and elevate to management any questions from stakeholders sent through our media channels.
- Coordinate French translation when required
- Assist in the coordination of special events
Qualifications and Skills
Skills and Competencies
- Strong writer with the ability to research and craft copy for a wide range of media and audiences
- Good visual design sense and ability to develop visuals support to reinforce key messages
- Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign Photoshop Illustrator Acrobat)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications particularly PowerPoint
Education Training and Experience
- Postsecondary Degree in Communications Journalism Marketing or related disciplines
- Experience: 6 years in a PR agency Journalism or Marketing / Communications / Content creation role
- Demonstrated experience and aptitude in planning creating and executing effective B2B initiatives and campaigns and internal communications
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills an effective collaborator and presenter
- Exceptional B2B writing editing and proofreading skills with ability to develop content from a range of voices
- Adept at creating effective visuals / graphics for a wide range of content
- A solid understanding of public relations branding communications and marketing principles guidelines and best practices
- Ability to synthesize and distill key messages from briefings and meetings
- Customer focused with a strong sense of accountability
- Resourceful with solid research and information gathering skills
- Ability to confidently conduct interviews with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to implement adhere to and reinforce brand standards internally & externally
- Experience working with website content management tools
- Outstanding attention to detail and ability to meet exacting standards within tight deadlines
- Excellent organization project management and time management skills
- Adaptable and flexible enthusiastically embrace new challenges and can quickly pivot in response to changing priorities
Preferred
- Ability to read and write in French is an asset.
Travel
- Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
