Position Summary
The Gerontology Program in the Department of Social Work invites applications for an adjunct instructor in the graduate Gerontology program. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional with expertise in elder law to teach our Elder Law for Gerontological Professionals course. The online course is taught over a 7.5week period from August through October. Duties and responsibilities of the position include: Instruct and guide the class in an efficient and effective manner Use course materials in Canvas effectively Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment Grade and return student work in a timely manner Counsel students regarding their grades and progress in the course Comply with the universitys professional development procedures for online instructors
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must meet the SACSCOC guidelines for teaching graduate classes which is a terminal degree in the field of instruction or a combination of a graduate degree and significant work experience in the field. Preferably the candidate will be an elder law attorney or have experience working in an elder law practice.
Preferred Qualifications
Because this position will teach exclusively in the fully online Gerontology Program the following will also be sought: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Knowledge of online pedagogy Experience in teaching online students
