    Title:
    Director of Buildings and Grounds
    Qualifications:
    • Valid drivers license
    • Minimum of a high school diploma and leadership experience in a field directly related to job functions
    • Minimum of three years of experience directly supervising personnel in an area directly related to job functions
    • Demonstrated successful experience with department budgets
    • Demonstrated successful experience with purchasing procurement and requests for proposal (RFP) in accordance with law
    • Demonstrated successful experience with management of facilities safety/security and emergency procedures
    • General knowledge of plumbing construction heating/cooling carpentry and electrical
    • Ability to lead and work harmoniously with others
    • Basic clerical skills including computer hardware and software
    Preferred
    • Bachelors Degree and additional training/certification/licensing in field relation to job functions
    • 710 years of leadership experience in the areas of buildings and grounds facilities management and maintenance for a school district or multisite employer including supervision of personnel
    • Previous experience with all aspects of construction from planning and design to postconstruction

    Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

    Supervises: Maintenance Custodial and Grounds Personnel

    Job Goal: Develop implement manage and improve the quality of school sites and facilities that will enhance the districts commitment to providing clean healthy and safe learning and work environments that enable the district to realize its mission and vision.

    Performance Responsibilities:
    1. Lead the provision of clean healthy and safe learning and work environments.
    2. Allocate direct and manage work schedules for maintenance custodial and buildings and grounds personnel
    3. Supervise and assist in the evaluation of the work of maintenance custodial and buildings and grounds personnel.
    4. Cooperate with Chief Operating Officer and principal when applicable in securing new hires including substitutes and the termination of employees as required.
    5. Maintains and archives building floor plans or other pertinent construction information.
    6. Regularly monitor all facilities for compliance with building and fire codes.
    7. Prepare and provide written and oral reports as required or as directed.
    8. Organize and lead professional meetings and training. Notify personnel of continuing education and staff development meetings germane to their work.
    9. Maintain records as required by federal law state and local law and district policy.
    10. Carry out or observe Board policies the negotiated agreement and federal state and local mandates.
    11. Attend appropriate meetings to stay abreast of current trends and required licenses.
    12. Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by staying within budgetary guidelines in purchasing and overseeing materials necessary for general and specific work projects; maintain log of purchase orders and other information required by the accounting department.
    13. Oversee safety of equipment used by staff.
    14. Keep informed of new products and methods for maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds.
    15. Serve on the Districts safety committee and leadership team.
    16. Be on call and responsive to emergency situations.
    17. Recommend to the Chief Financial Officer any maintenance projects to be initiated along with participation in capital projects efforts.
    18. In collaboration with the District administration and Board of Education develop and implement a long range facilities plan.
    19. Oversee lead and manage district construction projects approved by the Board of Education and/or Superintendent.
    20. Coordinate the use of contractors when departmental personnel are unable to perform certain duties including cost estimating data gathering purchasing services and providing site supervision.
    21. Prepare and provide accurate cost estimates for projects equipment and supplies.
    22. Build and maintain good relationships and public relations with all stakeholders and work within the boundaries of the District Core Values.
    23. Develop trash and recycling pickup calendars for the district.
    24. Conduct research to make informed recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on district needs and available funds.
    25. Ensure that custodial/maintenance personnel are up to date with legally required training.
    26. Oversee evaluation of custodial and maintenance personnel on an annual basis
    27. Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information.
    28. All other duties as assigned.

    Physical Requirements:
    1. Be available to work any shift days or schedule
    2. Repetitious bending lifting and hand movement
    3. Ability to work overhead periodically
    4. Ability to climb stairs and ladders
    5. Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. periodically
    6. Ability to work while standing moving and/or walking
    7. Maintain a good attendance record

    Terms of Employment:
    1. Employed 251 days plus 9 holidays
    2. Hours: 8 hours a day
    3. Salary as determined by the Board of Education.

    Evaluation:
    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board Policy.
