Job Description
UNM Medical Group Inc. (UNMMG) is seeking an OnCall Staff Physician in Anesthesiology in Rio Rancho New Mexico. The Department of Anesthesiology in the UNM School of Medicine is actively recruiting a physician for PRN/OnCall at UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) to provide patient care . Successful candidates will join a group of experienced Anesthesiologists.
Summary
Under indirect supervision provides and manages direct health care for a specified patient population. Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of New Mexico (UNM) is seeking a board certified Anesthesiologist for an oncall physician to teach and practice at UNM Hospital and UNM Outpatient Surgical and Imaging Services center (OSIS). Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine comprises of 50 faculty anesthesiologists 31 residents 6 fellows and 41 CRNA/CAAs covering 28 operating rooms and 7 NORA locations and perform 24000 anesthesia cases a year.
Minimum Job Requirements of a Staff Physician Anesthesiology:
Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty. State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board Certified or Board Eligible in specified area of medical specialty. Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology or within three years of residency and active in the certification process. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must hold unrestricted medical license
- Must hold M.D. or equivalent
- Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology or within three years of residency and active in the certification process
Duties and Responsibilities of a Staff Physician Anesthesiology:
- Provides and manages direct patient care including physical examinations evaluations assessments diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
- Prescribes pharmaceuticals other medications and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
- Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
- Trains and supervises medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures as appropriate.
- May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program patient care unit or research function.
- Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
- Follows established departmental policies procedures and objectives continuous quality improvement objectives and safety environmental and/or infection control standards.
- As appropriate to the position participates in specified health promotion education and/or prevention programs.
- Performs miscellaneous jobrelated duties as assigned.

About the UNM School of Medicine Anesthesiology:
The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque New Mexico invites applications for a on call staff physician. The primary appointment would be in the Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine Main OR. Successful candidates will join a group of experienced Anesthesiologists.

UNM Hospital is the only level 1 trauma center in New Mexico.
