Meet the team:
The R&D Mechanical Engineering Characterization Team is responsible for the feasibility and development of nextgeneration products at Dexcom. Were seeking a Staff Medical Device Engineer who can use crossfunctional mechanical material science and tissue engineering skillsets to lead test development and characterization efforts on future sensing technology hardware platforms.
Positioned within the Mechanical Engineering team this will be a high visibility high impact role in achieving Dexcoms product performance and reliability goals through delivering functional excellence in the research development and characterization of enabling technologies/designs & their integration to a product ecosystem.
Where you come in:
As a technical leader within the test characterization team you will define and implement the appropriate metrology tools and characterization plans to enable next generation products.
You will be handson developing test methods related to sensor mechanical properties and interactions with other components of the system including the tissue/device interface.
You will identify strategic test development opportunities and develop test roadmaps aligned with our future product and technology roadmaps working crossfunctionally with stakeholders across the business.
You will characterize the mechanical properties of our sensor to understand their role and performance within our product system.
You will conduct evaluations of products processes or new technologies to isolate specific product outcomes through experimental builds testing and analysis.
What makes you successful:
You have experience in biomechanics or products interfacing with living tissue.
You have demonstrated leadership skills and/or potential to lead complex interdisciplinary projects
You have a strong ability to communicate effectively to variable audiences including to senior levels of leadership.
You have good problem solving skills. You can break down complex problems in order to understand key factors and correlations.
You have the ability to define metrology needs of a product system working with design engineers and user requirements to map product needs to measurement methods.
You have a desire to mentor junior engineers to support individual growth opportunities while achieving corporate objectives.
You thrive working in fastpaced environment to solve technically challenging You have familiarity with Six Sigma methodology and tools such as DOEs and capability analyses.
You have the ability to utilize statistical analyses to make databacked conclusions.

Education and Experience:
Typically requires a Bachelors degree ina technical discipline and a minimum of 812 years related experience or Mastersdegree and 57 years equivalent industryexperience or a PhD and 24 years ofexperience.
