Who are we looking for
Our Midwest Environmental Group is looking for aSenior Industrial Hygienistto provide leadership and direction as we continue to grow our safety / industrial hygiene (IH) services throughout the region. This role will provide you the opportunity to perform a wide range of IH consultation services for third party clients which includes planning conducting and reporting the results of exposure assessment projects.
You will also lead and coordinate all aspects of projects as they relate to industrial hygiene. This will include establishing project objectives and methodologies providing direction to field staff reviewing project field data and preparing final reports for safety/IH related projects.
This position is based out of our Detroit MI office.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Perform exposure risk assessment projects for chemicals (gases vapors dusts aerosols etc. biological (viable and nonviable mold bloodborne pathogens etc. physical (noise heat/cold stress nonionizing radiation) and ergonomic stressors
- Provide industrial hygiene technical support to other staff members (Toxicologists Engineers Geologists Environmental Scientists etc. including litigation support analysis and interpretation of exposure data and exposure methodologies
- Plan schedule and provide work direction to industrial hygienists/technicians safety professionals environmental technicians and supporting staff
- Assist business development staff in the sales and marketing of Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) services to industrial clients
- Provide safety and industrial hygiene support to GHD internal safety department as needed
What you will bring to the team
- Bachelors and/or Masters degree in industrial hygiene (preferred) safety chemistry biology engineering or related field of study
- At least 10 years of professional experience in the field of industrial hygiene
- Certification in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene (CIH)
- Previous experience in an industrial facility as a health/safety consultant is helpful
- Ability to serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide technical leadership for IH projects nationwide.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare detailed reports and process field data independently.
- Willing and able to travel 4050 of the time perform field work (sometimes for extended periods) work outdoors and lift 50 lbs.
Salary Range: $107 000 $168 000 based on experience.
