Description

The City of RichmondDepartment of Public Utilities is seeking a qualified Maintenance and Operations Supervisor Senior to plan organize and direct the work of city employees in city sanitary sewer and storm water maintenance repair and operational programs. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising designated staff within the Wastewater Collections Division. Work may include: directing workflow and developing schedules; maintaining records; investigating and resolving citizen concerns and complaints; participating in longrange planning; making decisions about equipment materials and supply usage; managing inventory; and coordinating with contractors vendors and other service providers.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Supervising Crew Chiefs Equipment Operators and Pipeline Technicians that maintain and repair wastewater infrastructure
  • Coordinating and planning schedules by prioritizing and planning projects.
  • Implementing the performance standards for sanitary/stormwater construction maintenance and repair of the Citys sanitary sewer system
  • Providing maintenance of equipment machinery or vehicles to ensure they are in good working order while observing established safety protocols and procedures for safe operation.

Qualifications Special Certifications and Licenses

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Four years of experience in the assigned area
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification

LICENSING CERTIFICATIONS and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record
  • A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Drivers License within 30 days of hire
  • Some assignments may require one or more of the following: a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Commercial Drivers License and/or a certification in a skilled trade

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Due to the nature of work assignments incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions and under time constraint. The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly stand walk lift finger grasp talk see hear and use substantial repetitive motions of the wrists hands and fingers; frequently climb balance stoop kneel crouch reach push pull lift feel; and occasionally crawl push and pull. The working conditions may include frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions and hazardous materials; occasional exposure to atmospheric conditions extreme temperatures intense noise travel outside the organizations location and environmental hazards. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties this classification is considered to be medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally up to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
