Job Description Summary
The Wake Forest University Department of Music seeks a dynamic teacher and scholar for a oneyear position in music composition technology and/or theory to begin July 1 2025. The department has recently adopted a substantially revised curriculum that is designed to engage students with a greater diversity of musical thought and practice; transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries; increase student and community access to music courses and programming; and allow students in the music major to pursue a course of study whose breadth and depth supports their needs as preprofessionals and as people. We particularly welcome applications from candidates interested in contributing to this vision.Job Description:
The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing and new undergraduate courses such as introduction to composition introduction to music technology and Music Theory I as well as courses in the following areas relevant to their experience and interests: Introduction to Modern Popular Music Introduction to Western Music Introduction to Jazz and upperlevel undergraduate music theory electives. The teaching load is three courses per semester.
The ideal applicant would demonstrate commitments to interdisciplinary work and diversity and inclusion by way of teaching publishing performance and/or service; the ability to do so should be addressed in the candidates cover letter. Evidence of successful teaching as instructor of record at the undergraduate level is required. Applicants must be ABD in composition music technology music theory or a related field by the time of appointment.
