Job Description

West Point Grey Academy is seeking a Senior School French Teacherbeginning August 25 2025. This is a fulltime position eligible for benefits.

Our Senior School teachers are valued faculty members who with the support of Senior School Leadership and teaching teams plan and deliver adaptive futurefocused curricula to students in Grades 812. As part of the Modern Languages department French teachers help facilitate language acquisition and develop communication skills foster cultural understanding and promote lifelong learning and positive attitudes towards language diversity.

Our ideal candidate will bring 5 years of classroom teaching experience and formal training in teaching French as a second language to our school. With a passion for language education they will be eager to add to our highly qualified faculty. Additional interest/experience in other teachable subjects such as additional language proficiency (i.e. Spanish Mandarin) or Digital Arts education (i.e. media arts photography Yearbook etc. would be an asset as would an understanding of best practices in Middle Years education and an enthusiasm for traveling and chaperoning national and international cultural language trips. Familiarity with the Comprehensible Input (CI) approach would be a plus.

In your first year at WPGA youll be directly involved in:


Teaching

  • Preparing and delivering engaging futurefocused lesson plans and interactive learning activities/materials that follow BC curriculum guidelines.
  • Meaningfully integrate digital skills and technology into curriculum and assessment to enhance student learning (laptop and other technology resources provided).
  • Adapting instructional materials to students individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Conducting formal and informal assessment of students including report cards progress reports and marking.
  • Supporting students and families with open ongoing communication.


CoCurricular Involvement

  • Modelling and promoting our core values and high standards of behaviour in and out of the classroom.
  • Participating in school life and cocurricular activities such as athletics outdoor education clubs activities and special events.


Growing as a Professional

  • Actively participating in faculty meetings.
  • Seeking opportunities for collaboration.
  • Participating in professional development by reading professional literature and attending courses seminars and other professionaldevelopment opportunities.

Founded in 1996 West Point Grey Academy is an independent coeducational day school in Vancouver British Columbia. Set on 18 acres with sweeping views of English Bay and the North Shore mountains we offer futurefocused programs to 940 students in junior kindergarten to grade 12.
