Job Description
The Legal Assistant/Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to attorneys and legal staff. This role involves managing administrative functions coordinating case activities maintaining legal files and liaising between legal teams and other departments. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills attention to detail and a proactive approach to problemsolving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys and legal staff with daytoday operations including scheduling meetings preparing legal documents and organizing case files.
- Draft proofread and format legal documents including contracts correspondence and pleadings.
- Manage calendars coordinate meetings and schedule court appearances and depositions.
- Organize and maintain legal documents contracts and confidential files in both physical and electronic formats.
- Perform legal research and gather relevant case information as needed.
- Coordinate communication between legal departments external counsel and clients.
- Prepare legal reports presentations and materials for hearings or legal meetings.
- Handle incoming calls emails and inquiries ensuring appropriate and timely responses.
- Assist with billing invoicing and tracking legal expenses as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with company policies legal regulations and confidentiality agreements.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Legal Studies Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a legal assistant or legal coordinator role.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology legal documents and court processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and legal case management software.
- Excellent organizational multitasking and timemanagement skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Must be familiar with Michigan state court documents
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal certification is a plus.
- Experience working within an insurance or legal department.
- Familiarity with efiling systems and legal research databases (e.g. LexisNexis Westlaw).
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience. $60000$70000 annually based on experience
