SP Energy Networks (SPEN) are working to achieve network targets set by the Scottish and UK Government as part of our journey to NetZero. Weve launched our RIIOED2 Business Plan detailing the 3.3 billion worth of spending thats needed to ready the UK for an electric future the Head of Delivery (SPM Wirral District) will play a key role in SPEN achieving NetZero.

The Head of Delivery is responsible for leading and developing a multidisciplined team to safely deliver Operations Maintenance & Investment projects for SP Energy Networks (SPEN) whilst ensuring system performance and network security and compliance with regulatory and licence obligations.

What youll be doing

  • Analyse business performance to ensure compliance for costs and output deliverables and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Implement robust stakeholder and customer interfaces to ensure effective communications.

  • Deliver plans to facilitate business deliverables to minimise outages to customers.

  • Compliance with IBE/SPEN processes and procedures in line with business codes of practice.

  • Liaise with other District management teams to allow for the effective delivery of the wider SPEN Licence objectives.

  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of performance targets as appropriate such as:

    • Customer Minutes Lost Customer Interruptions

    • Broad Measure of Customer Satisfaction

    • Guaranteed Standards

    • Other Incentive mechanisms.

  • Lead and integrate asset stewardship values within teams through sound engineering principles coordinated planning design and delivery from a localised on the ground ethos.

  • Liaise with other Heads of Planning to allow for the effective management of the wider license objectives.

  • To lead and manage teams to ensure each individuals potential is fully developed and inspire a culture that ensures the delivery of business outputs.

What youll bring

  • Expert knowledge of standards required of construction and maintenance works in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Contract & SLA management and general commercial & regulatory awareness with the ability to balance customer service operational delivery and efficient financial performance.

  • Proven experience of managing motivating coaching and developing teams to ensure everyones potential is fully developed and to inspire a culture that ensures the delivery of business outputs.

  • Project/programme management experience with a strong performance ethos and a track record of driving and delivering projects and initiatives.

  • Track record of effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.

  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions.

  • Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SPEN is operating.

  • Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering leading role within a utility environment.

To be successful as a minimum you will demonstrate:

  • Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstratable experience in project managing and delivering major projects.

  • Operational experience on electrical networks up to 33kV is advantageous.

  • Current full UK driving licence.
