Job Description
The OttawaCarleton District School Board is the largest school board in Eastern Ontario and offers students and parents a world of choice for learning. Our nearly 150 schools offer a wide range of programs to promote learning excellence and meet the individual needs of students parents and the community at large. Our schools are teaching communities where principals viceprincipals teachers and support staff nurture student wellbeing and challenge students to achieve their best.
We are now accepting applications for:
Casual Library Technician List
The casual list is comprised of qualified individuals who are available to work on an asneed basis during peak periods or to replace absent staff
Library Technicians support our elementary and secondary school libraries helping to ensure that students and teachers have access to available resources during school hours.
Some duties include (but are not limited to) cataloging and classifying books and resource material; signing books in and out; maintaining the library database and keeping track of materials inventory; helping students and teachers locate books and materials; recommending purchase of and purchasing ageappropriate resources for the library.
Casual Rate of Pay:
Qualifications
- Completion of community college diploma in Library Information or an equivalent program is required . Applicants currently enrolled in a Library Information Program may also be considered;
- 1 to 2 years library work experience (ie public library records/archives management etc)
- Knowledge and understanding of library methodologies and tools.
- Ability to operate an automated library information system.
- Reference and cataloging skills.
- Love of reading and enjoy being around kids
- Experience working in a Library or similar organization
- Experience working in a makerspace environment is an asset.
