Job Description
The City of Lenexa is currently accepting applications for Swim Lessons Instructors at one of our three facilities:
- Flat Rock Creek: 13120 W. 103rd St.
- Lenexa Rec Center: 17201 W. 87th St. Pkwy
- SarKoPar Aquatic Center: 8801 Greenway Ln
Schedule:
This position requires weekday weekend and holiday availability. Applicants will provide their availability (specific days and hours) during the application process which will be reviewed as part of the hiring decision.
Position Summary:
The Swim Lessons Instructor leads group and private/semiprivate swim lessons. This role involves instructing participants with adaptive teaching techniques coordinating activities assessing progress and handling various administrative duties. The Swim Lesson Instructor will ensure a safe environment alongside the lifeguard team. Instructors will foster an engaging and inclusive learning space for all participants while providing excellent customer service.
Qualifications:
- Minimum:
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Understanding and ability to demonstrate the following strokes:
- Freestyle (front crawl)
- Backstroke (back crawl)
- Breaststroke
- Butterfly (with minimal proficiency)
- Side stroke
- Preferred:
- Previous swim lesson or swim coaching experience.
- Lifeguard and/or Water Safety Instructor certifications.
- American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Starting rate of pay is $16.00 per hour with annual raises.
Offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a drug screen. A background check is required for applicants aged 18 and older.
