QuarterLine (QL) a Planned Systems International (PSI) company is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to treat patients at the Base Operational Medical Clinic at Joint Base McGuireDixLakehurst just outside of Trenton New Jersey.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the Commanding Officer (e.g. supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose treat and counsel patients as indicated).
  • Treat patients with common acute conditions illnesses or minor trauma within accepted protocols Nurse Practice Acts and/or in collaboration with a Physician.
  • Collaborate with the Physician in the health care of patients with chronic illnesses.
  • Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians clinics or other health resources as indicated.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable.
  • Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Promote preventative and health maintenance care including annual physicals positive health behaviors and selfcare skills through education and counseling.
  • Coordinate patient care through a continuum and facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care quality and costeffectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies procedures and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility.
  • Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
  • Assesses patients.
  • Possess the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Effectively use appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues.
  • Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation both written and electronic of all activities in accordance with requirements.
  • Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations.
  • Completes orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with (IAW) unit guidelines.
  • Participates in the orientation of newly assigned personnel as appropriate.
  • Serves and participates in committees functions and other meetings as directed.
  • Provides relevant and timely information to these groups and assists with decisionmaking and process improvement. Participates in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities designed to enhance health services.
  • Ensures a safe work environment employee safe work habits and patient safety IAW regulatory agencies infection control policies and process improvement initiatives.
  • Possess skill in setting up operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps cardiac monitoring devices EKG units oxygen analyzers nebulizers and other unit specific equipment.
  • Become proficient in the use of the following computer systems: Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS) Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) or MHS Genesis (where applicable) and Aeromedical Services Information Management System (ASIMS).
  • Complete Deployment Related Health Assessment (DRHA)/Mental Health Assessment (MHA) provider training requirements as specified and Base Operational Medical Clinic guidance after inprocessing and submit required certificates to the MTF credentials manager. Additionally healthcare providers conducting DRHAs will complete program orientation with a DRHA Program Office representative via phone. These are onetime training requirements.
  • The healthcare provider will use their professional education certification and experience to conduct inperson and telephonic DRHA and annual MHA services at Joint Base McGuireDixLakehurst. These services must comply with applicable Department of Defense and Air Force policy and guidance including DoDI 6200.06 Periodic Health Assessment (PHA) Program; AFI 44170 Preventive Health Assessment and AFI 48122 Deployment Health to include required standards of care clinical practice guidelines and workflows. It is estimated the healthcare provider will conduct 100 of Deployment Related Health Assessments in person and 5 of Mental Health Assessments in person and 95 of Mental Health Assessments via telephone.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree/Education:Masters Degree in Nursing. Graduate from an academic program within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Experience:2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Must possess knowledge of the following:
    • Professional care theories principles practices disease process and procedures.
    • Variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment the desired effects side effects and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent including dosage calculations as required.
    • The administrative requirements for proper documentation of a patients condition including disease progress acknowledgment of teaching and followup care.
    • Computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing data entry and automated medical records.
  • License/Certification:Current full active and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
  • Credentialing: Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Current physical and immunizations.

Physical Requirements: You must be on the premises to perform the job. The environment is fastpaced and multifaceted with conditions and duties that can change quickly throughout a shift.
