This is an oncall position which means it is a parttime hourly role. This position will work 3 25 hours per week. Individual hours will vary. All games take place in the evening and on weekends. The pay rate for this position is $26.74/hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denvers 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. Oncall positions may have routine or variable work schedules.
In this position you can expect to work on site at a variety of sports fields and recreation centers throughout the metro Denver area. All games take place in the evening and on weekends.

Part of the City and County of Denvers Department of Parks and Recreation CityWide Sports offers a variety of adult sports programs across a large network of sports fields and recreation centers throughout the metro Denver area. With over 175 diverse leagues available including coed mens and womens options for sports including softball basketball volleyball pickleball and kickball theres something for everyone. Games are held on weekday evenings and weekends providing a vibrant and flexible sports experience for participants.

Certified Sports Officials officiate recreational activities and aid the recreation site leads and staff. Sports Officials will officiate adult league games. Games are held throughout Denvers network of parks recreation centers and sports facilities.
As a Certified Sports Official with CityWide Sports youll play a vital role in creating a fun fair and dynamic atmosphere for participants. Here are some of the key duties youll take on:
Officiating at sports events including flag football basketball softball and other adult sports leagues
Communicating with CityWide Sports Program Coordinators by telephone email or inperson to provide information and discuss problems
Inspecting playing surfaces or fields to ensure that it meets the regulations of the sanctioning body and is safe for the players.
Inspecting sporting equipment and/or examining participants to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations
Signaling participants or other officials to make them aware of infractions or to otherwise regulate play
Explaining disputed calls to players (when appropriate)
Performing other related duties as assigned or requested

Our ideal candidate will also have the following:
Availability during weeknights and weekends
Punctuality and proactive communication ahead of all scheduled shifts
Previous officiating experience
Willingness to work multiple sites and regions
Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED HiSET or TASC Certificate
Experience Requirement: One 1 year experience officiating in a recreational official league.
Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
Licensure: Certification as a Sports Official by a recognized organization is required at the time of application.
