MDH Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center Jessup MD

Main Purpose of Job

The Psychologist II CI will provide psychological services in Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center a maximumsecurity forensic hospital. This includes assessment and treatment of patients including the use of psychological test and related procedures. Individuals hospitalized include person charged with serious violent felonies (e.g. arson sexual offenses etc. and patients referred from prisons detention centers courts and other mental health facilities not able to effectively treat them due to the level of violence behavioral disturbance or risk of escape. The position also involves providing forensic psychological evaluations of outpatient pretrial defendants charges with serious violent felonies. In addition to the aforementioned essential duties Psychologist II CI staff may provide coverage for the Psychology Director during his/her absence from the facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.

Experience:Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research after receipt of thePsychologist license.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position. Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may applybefore receipt of the required license but the application will be designated inpending status by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Testing Unit.When the license has been obtained submit a copy of the license to MDH toremove the pending status from the application. A copy of your license or license number must accompany your application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possessa motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
