Position Number:123610Position Title (Classification Title):Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering 123610Working Title:Assistant Professor of Mechanical EngineeringJob Summary:The successful candidate will teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level conduct academic research advise students mentor student projects and perform service activities that contribute to the success of the department and the mission of the university. This position will be located at our Pensacola campus.DepartmentMechanical EngineeringFLSA:ExemptMinimum Qualifications:Holds the highest degree appropriate to the field or possesses equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and be otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. The appointee engages in teaching scholarship and creative projects and/or service and other related activities.Position Qualifications:Minimum requirements are a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the start date of the appointment with a strong commitment to teaching academic research and service along with a potential for external funding.Preferred QualificationsWhile all areas within Mechanical Engineering will be considered preference will be given to candidates with a background in composite materials nondestructive evaluation mechatronics marine engineering or hydrodynamics.Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 50 Teaching classes (Essential)
  • 50 Research and service (Essential)

  • Physical Requirements: Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat cold noise dust dirt chemicals etc. but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely results would be cuts bruises etc.
  • Impact of Deadlines:Routine deadlines. Usually sufficient lead time. Variance in work volume seasonal and predictable. Priorities can be anticipated. Some interruptions are present. Involves occasional exposure to demands/pressures from persons other than immediate sup.
