Experience preferred: 2 years BH experience; acute hospital or outpatient discharge planning experience; medical trauma experience
Location: St. Marys Hospital Madison
This position conducts psychosocial assessments including formal risk assessments and psychiatric evaluations for patients of all age ranges who present to the ED. The BHIT works as part of the multidisciplinary care team to ensure proper and safe care and dispositions for patients.

Job Summary:
Conducts interviews and behavioral health assessments for potential admissions including telehealth assessments.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides admissions and intake services to patients and potential patients.
- Responds to telephone inquiries from persons seeking mental health care or information about mental healthrelated services.
- Facilitates admission of inpatients and outpatients based on physician orders. Coordinates transportation to another facility and/or referral to a lower level of care as indicated.
- Documents calls and related admission information. May staff crisis hotline as needed.
- Reviews all paperwork accompanying patients to ensure adherence to hospital and regulatory policies.
- Performs insurance verification and priorauthorization based on payor requirements.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Masters degree in Behavioral Health or related field
EXPERIENCE
- No experience required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 025 lbs.
- Frequent sitting standing walking reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near 20 inches or less) and far 20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms malfunctioning machinery etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending stooping kneeling squatting twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 2550 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
