General Summary:
- Responsible directly or through oversight of others for provision of spiritual care and support to patients families and Sheppard Pratt employees in accordance with the philosophy mission and objectives of the Sheppard Pratt.
- Maintains contacts with local clergy trains and supervises pastoral volunteers promotes ecumenical activities throughout Sheppard Pratt and provides inservice education programs in spiritual care.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:
- Work requires a level of knowledge of theology faith development and clinical pastoral experience acquired through successful completion of a Masters degree program from an accredited theological seminary and a minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education 1600 hours) from a site accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education.
- Work requires endorsement as a member in good standing of a regularly recognized church or rabbinical organizationacquired through 2 to 3 years of progressively more responsible related work experience.
- Work requires interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients staff and visitors.
- Work requires ability to minister effectively as counselor to patients with a wide variety of mental diagnoses and at differing levels of illness including those who are psychotic irritable withdrawn or acting out.
- Work requires talking hearing midrange vision depth perception and field of vision.
