The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) supports a variety of missions including NASAs vision to reveal the unknown for the benefit of humankind and the Department of Defenses aim to protect our nation on the ground in the air and in space. Our sensors satellites software systems and science and engineering play an essential role in some important missions youve heard of and others that you havent. Join our team in our seventh decade of delivering mission success.

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team. The selected candidate will report to the Quality Safety & Mission Assurance Manager and perform qualityengineering activities in support of meeting program requirements. Duties may include tasks such as reviewing and approving drawing packages acting as a witness for acceptance tests interpreting contractual requirements coordinating specifications for the purchase of goods and services performing final inspections on deliverable hardware preparing enditem data package documentation identifying and implementing process improvements and/or leading efforts to address and resolve nonconforming product issues.

The selected candidate may also be involved with supporting various activities associated with the organizations AS9100Dcertified Quality Management System (QMS) processes including but not limited to customer satisfaction internal audits nonconformity control and corrective action improvement initiatives and product assurance.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates processes and dispositions of nonconforming products and anomalies
  • Reviews and approves engineering drawings plans and procedures
  • Interfaces with Design Manufacturing and Test Engineering to improve design and procedures
  • Interfaces with subcontractors and customers to resolve quality problems
  • Performs first article inprocess and final inspections to ensure adherence to applicable standards
  • Performs audits on internal and subcontractor procedures
  • Creates and reviews customer and subcontract deliverables
  • Completes and manages end item technical data packages
  • Frequent customer communication and interaction
  • Actively represents quality engineering during critical design and test readiness reviews
Required Qualifications:
  • BS in a physical science engineering and/or business operation field
  • At least 5 years of quality assurance/engineering experience
  • Knowledge of the ISO9001 or AS9100D Quality System Standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Proven ability to work well independently or on a team
  • Ability to facilitate and promote use of problemsolving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action
  • Must be a US citizen lawful permanent resident of the US or other US person
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 years of quality assurance/engineering experience
  • Experience performing contractual document review to identify requirements
  • Quality Assurance experience in a research and development environment aerospace and defense and/or comparable industry
  • Use of statistical analysis techniques
  • Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one
