RSM US LLP is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SALT Managing Director to join our State & Local Tax (SALT) practice focusing on income and franchise tax compliance and consulting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage complex engagements drive growth and provide highvalue tax advice to a diverse client base across various industries. As a Tax Managing Director for RSM you will be responsible for the following job duties which are focused around three core concepts: Technical & Quality Expertise People & Talent Management and Client Service/Business Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage business relationship for complex engagements with a focus on highvalue quality tax advice and seek to expand services to clients.

  • Drive growth and profitability by generating new revenue from existing clients cross selling and acquiring new clients.

  • Advise clients on nexus unitary and business income multistate tax planning audit defense M&A due diligence and other state tax consulting.

  • Serve as a performance advisor mentor or coach to one or more employees which will include providing honest and timely performance feedback.

  • Train and develop staff members fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

  • Communicate complex state and local tax issues in a nontechnical manner to facilitate communication between the client understanding and managing risk.

  • Interact directly with clients handling questions planning consulting etc.

  • Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards.

  • Build relationships across lines of business to ensure excellent client service through an integrated service approach.

  • Remain uptodate on current tax practices and changes in tax law.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Some travel may be required (varies based on location line of business and client need).

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience providing income and franchise tax consulting services in a Public Accounting Consulting or Law Firm.

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting.

  • CPA JD LLM or EA.

  • Proven ability to support financial growth efforts and manage a book of business.

  • Strong analytical problem solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and engagement teams for various clients.

  • Excellent project management and critical thinking skills.

At RSM an employees pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including but not limited to education skills work experience certifications location etc. As such pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $167000 $365200

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
