Our ideal candidates will have experience in transporting materials conducting safety inspections performing minor vehicle maintenance be team players and have a background in construction and road maintenance. The Maintenance Section of the Road Services Division is responsible for maintaining and improving roadways and related infrastructure in unincorporated King County and contract cities. Our goal is to preserve and enhance roadway conditions efficiently and sustainably ensuring public safety and protecting community investments.

PRACTICAL/INTERVIEWS ALL IN ONE DAY:
Those candidates who pass the initial screening will be invited to participate in a inperson practical exam and interview. Only those who passthepracticalassessmentwill move forwardto the interview. The practical and interview will take place on the same day the week of April 14th 2025.
WHO MAY APPLY:
This recruitment is open to all qualified applicantsand may be used to fill current and or/future career service termlimited temporary shortterm temporary and or/special duty positions over the next six months.
Special duty opportunities are open only to current King County career service employees who have completed theirinitialprobation. Special duty applicants must have approval from their current supervisor to accept an assignment. Current employees selected for special duty will be compensated based upon the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement King County Personnel Guidelinesor Coalition Labor Agreement for their base assignment.

WORK SCHEDULE:
The work schedule will consist of five eighthour days in the fall/winter Monday Friday 7:00 am 3:30 pm andfour tenhour days in thespring/summer Monday Thursday 6:00 am 4:30 pm.This position is NonExempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay with priorsupervisor approval.
EMERGENCY DESIGNATION STATUS:
First Responder:Employees who in theearly stagesof an incidentare responsible forprotecting and preserving life property evidence the environment and restoring order.
