Evening weekend television distance education (i.e. Lanai and Molokai) and offcampus (various high school campuses) may be assigned as part of the regular workload.

The position may be converted from 9month to 11month based on program/operational needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Teach a range of computer science and information technology courses and work with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) specialization of the Associate in Science in Natural Science Degree Program and the Applied Business and Information Technology (ABIT) Program.
  2. Work collaboratively with colleagues to support Information and Computer Science (ICS) classes in support of various degrees.
  3. Work with colleagues to identify plan develop and implement curriculum and learning strategies to meet student special population college and community needs.
  4. Perform related work activities including but not limited to:
    1. Advising and counseling students; preparing/adapting/revising Student Learning Outcomes and Assessment strategies for all course
    2. Developing and/or redesigning curricula for online and other distance education applications; participating in campusrelated activities
    3. Independently planning organizing and carrying out instructional and noninstructional assignments
  5. Provide college and community service
  6. Participate in professional development activities related to program development.
  7. Perform ICSrelated duties as assigned.
  8. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Information & Computer Sciences Computer Science Cybersecurity Information & Communication Technology Information Technology Information Security & Assurance Management Information Systems System & Network Administration Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

OR

  • Bachelors Degree in Information & Computer Sciences Computer Science Cybersecurity Information & Communication Technology Information Technology Information Security & Assurance Management Information Systems System & Network Administration Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering AND three 3 years related work experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Strong preference given to candidates with teaching experience preferably at trade school community college or postsecondary level including nontraditional hours in the area of Computer Science especially programming classes.
  2. PhD in Information and Computer Science or related field.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge through course work inservice training workshops and/or work experience of programming languages PC technology Windows operating systems and web development. Experience in designing building and testing computer programs and websites.
  4. Experience with programming languages such as C C Java and JavaScript Evidence of effectiveness in teaching computer science and/or web development courses including laboratory sections.
  5. Experience in working and/or teaching in areas such as Web Development cybersecurity and Data Mining.
  6. Knowledge through course work and/or experience with educational technology distance education and alternative educational delivery systems. Work experience in business government industry and/or nonprofit organizations demonstrating practical application of academic content.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to communicate verbally and in writing. Experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  8. Experience teaching in the first two years of a Computer Science degree.
