What You Can Expect in this Role:

As an Awake Overnight at Perkins you will be responsible for remaining awake and alert at all times during the shift to perform routine checks of all students as specified in the schedule for the residence. You will also attend to the direct care medical and behavioral needs of our students.

Wed love to talk with you if you have many of the following:

• You maintain appropriate certifications and complete required training hours and mandated trainings including onthejob training.

• You provide and monitor direct care tailored to individual needs of the students in a manner respectful of their personal privacy and dignity.

• You assist students in helping them to control their behaviors.

• You provide the appropriate level of physical assistance to students assisting with lifting and transferring.

• You follow and comply with school rules polices and procedures and implement regulations required by licensing agencies.

• You respond to student medical emergencies.

• You remain awake and alert at all times on shift and do not place yourself in a position conducive to sleep.

• You complete routine checks of all students.

• You effectively utilize the staff/student logs in sharing critical and relevant student information to other staff.

• You communicate specific issues and concerns relating to student health or behavior to the coordinator.

• You comply with the OSHA and the Perkins Hazard Communication Program safety standards and immediately repots any hazard to supervisor.

• You report staff and student injuries and student incidents per policy and procedures.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma required Associates or Bachelors degree preferred

• Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred

• Valid drivers license and willingness to drive school vehicles preferred

• Willingness to complete and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Crisis Prevention and Physical Intervention (CPPI) certifications; Sign Language (dependent on program needs)
