Anatomic PathologistOchsner Health in New Orleans is seeking a BC/BE Pathologist. Applicants should be board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with 5 years experience preferred doing cytology or FNAs and experience in diagnostic surgical pathology. The available position is based within the Ochsner health System in the greater New Orleans LA region.
Currently the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of 38 pathologist and two PhDs. The Community group is made up of 11 pathologists who currently staff 4 hospitals within the greater New Orleans Area.
Additionally there are 12 pathologists who practice primarily anatomic pathology at the Ochsner Medical CenterNew Orleans campus and provide expertise with subspecialty training and interest in dermatopathology transplant pathology GU and GI pathology as well as cytopathology. There are additional clinical pathologists with expertise in blood banking hematology microbiology and clinical chemistry.
This current advertised position is for our New Orleans Ochsner Main Campus Hospital location as part of our Anatomic Pathologist Group.
The Ochsner health system currently processes approximately 95000 surgical cases and 50000 cytology cases annually. There is a vast spectrum of cases with a wide range of complexity. The department supports a solid organ transplantation program and comprehensive oncology services including a stateoftheart breast cancer center and a bone marrow transplant program. As Ochsner Medical Center is an academic institution the Department supports the academic initiatives of the organization and serves as an affiliate training site for 2 local accredited pathology training programs as well as rotating medical students.
