Primary Position Objectives |
The Youth Connector helps to prepare youth ages 1424 to successfully enter and maintain employment. This includes career exploration work readiness training opportunities to gain work experience occupational skills training and engaging local business to support these efforts. |
Position Responsibilities |
Key Responsibilities | Brief Description of Duties |
Administration Procedures | This is a remote position but travel is required within a 17county northeast Kansas territory. This position is parttime expected 20 hours/week - Facilitate work readiness training for youth ages 1424
- Assist youth to create a plan to meet their individual employment goals
- Actively support youth to pursue employment through job leads resume development and mock interviews
- Coordinate and promote opportunities for career exploration and handson learning
- Outreach to businesses and organizations to create opportunities for youth including paid work experience
- Maintain and grow business relationships
- Establish and monitor work experience sites that support youth goals and career interests
- Support youth and employer relationships to promote successful job placement and retention
- Create and distribute marketing materials to recruit employers and youth participants
- Keep detailed records to document services
- Assists coordinator in assessing the effectiveness of the training component as well as satisfaction of the participants and employers
- Work as part of a support team for youth participants many experiencing barriers such as homelessness
- Effectively collaborate with program staff and partners including the local workforce board Youth Housing Demonstration Project team and the local Youth Action Board (YAB)
- This position could develop into fulltime

Experience |
Experience providing social service supports to youth ages 1424 coordinating and monitoring internships work experience job shadows and informational interviews experience supporting clients in workforce development programs and knowledge of Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA). |
Education |
Bachelors degree in human services psychology counseling education social science communications or closely related field; or Associates degree in human services psychology counseling education social science communications or closely related field and two years related experience. |

Valid State DriversLicense with acceptable driving record |
