About the Town
Bassendean is a small local government that sits along the Derbarl Yerrigan on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people. About the team
The Towns Community Development Unit is dedicated to responding to our diverse communitys needs aspirations and wellbeing by building a safe inclusive and connected community with a strong sense of identity and belonging. We contribute to the Towns strategic objectives through the delivery of a wide range of services and programs that build community capacity as well as through advocacy and support for to achieve the best possible community outcomes.
About the role
The role will give the successful applicant an opportunity to:
Act as the Towns first point of contact for all matters relating to portfolio responsibilities.
Develop promote facilitate and support community education and programming opportunities that support social welfare and inclusion.
Develop and maintain appropriate policies to support vulnerable communities in the community particularly in areas such as aboriginal engagement and homelessness.
Deliver outcomes from key strategic informing documents including but not limited to the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan Reconciliation Plan and thePublic Health Plan
Facilitate preparation and acquittals of grant funding applications for the Town of Bassendean and assist external agencies and organisations with the preparation of funding applications.
Works collaboratively to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiencies across the team organisation and community.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- Welldeveloped initiative and problemsolving skills.
- Sound communication skills verbal written interpersonal and commitment to quality customer service delivery.
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
- Readinessto work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and develop positive relationships with team members.
- Possession of or progress towards Tertiary qualifications

Salary and Benefits
This permanent fulltime position attracts an annual salary up to $95000.00 per annum plus superannuation.
The Town also offers up to 4 additional superannuation (conditions apply) 17.5 leave loading free parking ongoing training and professional development and up to two additional leave days per calendar year.
Working Hours
This is a permanent fulltime role 76 hours a fortnight Monday to Friday. Flexibility options such as variable start/finish times are options and may be negotiated for this role.
The Town of Bassendean supports employees having access to flexible working arrangements to help them manage work and life responsibilities. As flexibility means different things to different people the Town has a range of flexibility options that may be negotiated.
