Job Description

Introduction

1. Remote position able to be fully remote worker from anywhere within Aus or be Sydney based and have access to a beautiful Manly office location when they wish to attend the office

2. Opportunity to work within and collaborate with an MDT whilst also being a part of a large OT community within RFW with excellent internal supervision and PD structures

3. Opportunity to work across a range of communities supporting vulnerable children in rural and remote communities whilst being based at home!



Description

This position is responsible for the provision of evidenceinformed culturally responsive occupational therapy services to the children and families referred to Royal Far West. The role includes planning assessment formulation intervention and discharge planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

There is a continuum of skills and experience within the occupational therapists employed by Royal Far West. Clinicians ideally demonstrate a level of practice characterised by expert clinical skills reasoning critical thinking knowledge and experience with service provision to meet complex client needs within contemporary practice.

Within the supportive multidisciplinary team and OT discipline community you will have access to regular clinical supervision professional development opportunities and a range of supported career development pathways and opportunities in clinical leadership supervision education safety and quality and research.



Skills And Experiences

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE

Essential Criteria

Level 1/2

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy eligible for holding AHPRA registration.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the core components of paediatric Occupational Therapy i.e. regulation sensory processing motor skills selfcare skills play and social skills. This includes the ability to plan and deliver Occupational Therapy assessment intervention case management and discharge planning of children 0 12 years) with developmental vulnerability.
  • Exhibits effective written and verbal communication skills including report writing file notes communicating with children carers teachers and colleagues.
  • Awareness of Child Safe practices including but not limited to Child Protection legislation policy and procedures.
  • Developing understanding of familycentred and strengths based care.
  • Complies with Mandatory Employment Screening Checks Policy and Workforce Immunisation Policy.
  • Commitment to diverse and inclusive practices. Developing understanding of the issues faced by CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities within the context of health and family wellbeing.
  • Highly developed computer skills including use of programs such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom and experience delivering services via telehealth.

Level 3 Senior (in addition to the above):

  • Minimum of 6 years experience (exceptional candidates may be considered if they can demonstrate relevant meaningful experience and capability).
  • Experience independently conducting practice education and providing support to more junior staff conducting practice education.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision and support to level 1 and 2 health professionals
  • Demonstrated extensive specialist knowledge or highlevel generalist knowledge of the main components of paediatric Occupational Therapy. Including demonstrated management of caseloads of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills.
  • Experience identifying opportunities for improvement in clinical practice and service design. Develop and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.

  • Highly developed skills partnering with schools and working collaboratively to achieve quality outcomes for students.
  • An understanding and appreciation of the benefits and challenges for children in living in rural and remote areas.
