Job Description

About the role
- Sitting at the intersection of business and engineering Data Scientists work in several different capacities to improve the overall decision making capabilities at the company and connect people to the best and most relevant experiences.
- You will work closely with our stakeholders in business product and engineering to devise datadriven solutions to optimise the pricing of events in our marketplace.
- You will develop and maintain models to accurately estimate demand and price elasticity in order to maximise the long term value for our customers and Fever.
- You will analyse and exploit cross effects across products and contexts (e.g. box office marketplace) to drive further optimisation opportunities.
- You will design execute and analyze experiments leveraging statistics econometric models causal inference techniques to determine the true impact of pricing interventions.
- You will collaborate with our partners to devise the right solutions across domains (e.g. sports and live entertainment) to tackle diverse business problems and needs.
- Data Scientists also form a tightknit group constantly looking to upskill and learn from each other share best practices and learnt lessons and generally foster a culture of excellence.
- This is a highly visible role with a lot of potential to define the scope and strategy for this extremely important function. Youll play a key role in taking Fevers already vibrant data culture to the next level
On your first month in Fever:
- Youll be fully integrated into the team and you will meet some key partners on the engineering and business sides
- Youll be able to navigate our data assets
- Youll get familiar with Fevers tech stack and frameworks
- Youll attend some of the Fever Originals experiences like Candlelight
After 3 months in Fever:
- Youll understand the full business context at Fever and will be able to identify key challenges where your skills can eventually make a difference
- Youll have already contributed significantly to advance a challenging Data Science project
- Youll participate in some of the hackdays or hackathons we organize with other teams
On your 6th month in Fever:
- Youll have established yourself as a soughtafter collaborator by our business and engineering partners
- Youll be mentoring other new joiners to the team and be an active contributor to the data science and analytics community at Fever promoting best practices and fresh ideas to make the whole community more efficient
- Youll have significant input in the planning of the Data Science org and will also be able to influence our partners roadmaps
About you
- You have solid math statistics and Machine Learning fundamentals (typically MSc or PhD level) so you
- Understand the theory behind the algorithms
- Can make informed and reasonable modeling choices
- Can rigorously evaluate the performance and failure modes of your proposals
- You have a strong understanding of statistical analysis and modeling including regression econometric models time series analysis and forecasting.
- You can turn your ideas into reality meaning that you
- Are a master of common data and ML tools (e.g. SQL Pandas Numpy
- Can build both quick prototypes and robust analysis and modeling pipelines
- Can work effectively with data engineers analysts software engineers etc.
- You have prior experience developing and deploying models for business applications.
- You have a scientific mindset a problemfirst attitude and are highly selfcritical so you
- Can translate complex problems into mathematical formulations
- Start simple and construct solid baselines
- Know when its necessary to introduce extra complexity and when simple is better
- Dont reinvent the wheel
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit get stuff done and thrive in a fast paced environment so you
- Take ownership of your work
- Communicate early and often
- Take controlled risks
- Leave things better than you found them
- You are comfortable with software engineering best practices and write robust reproducible and maintainable code but can also build quick prototypes to validate ideas and enable new analysis.
- You have excellent communication skills and are proficient in business English
It would be a plus if you...
- Have significant expertise in technical areas such as causal inference reinforcement learning and optimisation systems
- Have relevant work experience in internet tech companies
- Identify yourself as both a scientist and a hacker
- Have experience with current ML and scientific computing frameworks such as Pytorch JAX etc.
