IT System Administrator
Compensation: $75000

As our IT Systems Administrator youll own the IT function at the Aquarium. This includes overseeing daily IT operations and ensuring the reliability and performance of all IT systems and infrastructure. Youll lead and develop the IT team while supporting a variety of systems including workstations servers applications services network equipment audiovisual (AV) systems and the pointofsale (POS) system. A key aspect of this role will be maintaining the POS system and SQL database handling system administration tasks and assisting with data extraction transformation and loading (ETL) processes to support business intelligence reporting. Who we are looking for:
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Information Systems Computer Science or a related field preferred; a combination of relevant education certifications and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of related IT experience in an office environment supporting user hardware and software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA ITFA Network A Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Cisco CCNA.
- Experience with POS systems and database management preferred.
- Familiarity with automation tools such as PowerShell or Ansible.
- Knowledge of IT security best practices and compliance frameworks.
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
- Familiarity with Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel Word Outlook).
- Basic understanding of networks and audiovisual systems.
- Strong knowledge of SQL databases including relational table structures querying and reporting services.
- Strong analytical mathematical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & System Administration
- Oversee daily IT operations to ensure optimal system performance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for technical support and troubleshooting.
- Manage desktops laptops servers tablets network equipment IP phones printers and other hardware.
- Manage and maintain Windows servers and workstations.
- Manage and configure Office 365 and Exchange environments.
- Administer Active Directory including user account management group policies and security settings.
- Coordinate with thirdparty IT providers for hardware procurement upgrades network infrastructure server maintenance and billing.
- Maintain and manage Microsoft O365 Jira and Adobe services.
- Administer and maintain website hosting nameservers and DNS records.
- Ensure cybersecurity best practices and promote cyber hygiene throughout the organization.
IT Team Leadership & Development
- Directly manage and develop IT team member(s).
- Oversee IT team recruiting and hiring processes.
- Approve IT team timecards attendance and timeoff requests.
- Act as a liaison between IT and other departments.
POS & Database Management
- Administer the Galaxy POS system including system maintenance upgrades product configurations and integrations.
- Work with departments to create and maintain POS items sales channels and related configurations while evaluating requests for efficiency customer satisfaction and security.
- Maintain POS hardware such as ticket printers barcode scanners receipt printers credit card readers and cameras.
- Perform basic SQL database and network maintenance.
Data Management & Business Intelligence
- Extract and prepare data for analysis and business intelligence reporting.
- Import data into Domo and create accurate visualizations.
- Support companywide data quality management for guest member donor sponsor and survey data.
Audiovisual & Specialty Equipment Support
- Set up operate and maintain digital signage displays lighting and audio components.
- Maintain AV equipment in conference rooms boardrooms and event spaces.
- Oversee and repair 4D theater components including seat effects controllers media servers and projectors.
- Maintain virtual reality experience components including headsets motion benches and effects.
Security & Asset Management
- Manage the Salto keycard system including access control and troubleshooting.
- Track and manage hardware and ITrelated assets ensuring accurate inventory records.
- Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding by managing account access and security privileges.
Strategic Planning & Vendor Relations
- Plan and manage the annual IT budget and capital purchases.
- Advise departments on budget planning for new IT equipment.
- Maintain vendor relationships and coordinate thirdparty services for specialized IT and AV work.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Primarily officebased with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Fulltime position with availability required outside of standard business hours including weekends.
