Cornell Healths Medical Department aims to provide collaborative innovative vibrant holistic clinical care for patients biopsychosocial needs. We offer services with a multidisciplinary team of professionals encouraging each team member to utilize their professional skills and personal compassion to care for an individuals needs. We aspire to provide care as a Patient Centered Medical Home a model of primary care tailored to the urgent and longterm needs of each person. Physicians at Cornell Health provide direct ambulatory primary patient care to students of the university. Each physician has responsibility to provide or arrange for comprehensive care for a patients holistic needs including their medical mental health emotional and social issues. All physicians collaborate with community and other Cornell Health physician colleagues health associates nursing staff ancillary and support staff professional psychotherapist staff physical therapists and health educators to provide comprehensive care to students as patients. In their clinical work with students physicians are involved with the developmental educational emotional psychological social and academic aspects of students lives and often are called upon to interact with parents faculty and other professionals both on and off campus in a patientcentered medical home model of primary care delivery.

This position is a fulltime 18month fixedterm position. Extension of the term appointment is contingent upon funding successful performance and business need. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. with current NYS license BC/BE in a primary care or other appropriate specialty.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with knowledge and sensitivities appropriate to working with a highly diverse young adult population.
  • CPRBLS level certification achieved within one year of employment and maintained biannually as applicable.
  • Physicians at Cornell Health must be willing to consider prescribing psychotropic medications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in and concern for health problems encountered in a campus community including medical and mental health issues and areas where they intersect.
  • Ability to coordinate with colleagues to maintain continuity of patient care and ensure the appropriate management and treatment of medical problems when not physically present at the health center.
  • Desire to communicate electronically with patients.
  • Facility with using an electronic health record to advance the care of patients using nonfacetoface opportunities for patient care.
  • Experience with and desire to work in a teambased environment working with varied and diverse healthcare staff in a patient centered medical home.
