Software Development Engineer Fleet Tracking and Telemetry

The Fleet Tracking and Telemetry team produces the hardware and software services that powers the Amazon Logistics and Transportation operations that move goods for Amazon warehouses globally over land air rail and sea. The teams charter covers technology used in asset tracking telematics IOT sensing and detection safety security and process automation at scale.

In this role you will deliver the software required to track our Amazon transportation assets and ingest critical telemetry. We are a unique team that owns both software and hardware so you will have the opportunity to develop software that operates in the cloud and at the edge.

Key job responsibilities
Youll design and develop systems and applications used by Amazon worldwide and will regularly interact with engineering and business leadership. You will participate in the planning and of technology projects and operational excellence initiatives. Youll also mentor junior engineers in employing strong design and implementation practices.

To accomplish this you will be expected to have an established background in building highly scalable systems and applications excellent communication skills and a motivation to achieve results in a fastpaced environment. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software is customercentric and feels strongly about building good software and making that software achieve its operational goals. Experience building and operating applications running at the edge or with IoT devices would be helpful but not required.

About the team
You will work with a diverse team of Hardware and Software engineers who will work alongside you to innovate and deliver solutions for middle mile transportation. Our mission is to deploy hardware devices firmware and the cloud services to track and collect telemetry from our assets on the road and under the roof. We work with internal customers in operations planning and transportation. This team has extremely high ownership to ensure robust quality and accurate solutions.

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language

3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
Skills or knowledge to write firmware code debug and diagnose firmware issues and propose and enhance device firmware.
Experience with GreenGrass or other edge compute tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
