POSITION TITLE: Electrical Engineer

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage Electrical Engineering responsibilities related to Crane Projects and Support Sales and Production in the Konecranes ICS Region Americas Delivery Engineering Department. The hired Engineer will learn to manage the electrical design/engineering aspects of material handling equipment projects; read specifications create equipment layouts and specify/requisition electrical components. An entry level engineer will be trained in the use of company approved software and trained to acquire product knowledge. In time the hired Engineer will be expected to become a lead engineer on custom engineered material handling equipment projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review Project Contracts and Specifications related to new crane projects.
  • Attend project Kickoff Meetings External and Internal as determined by the Project Manager.
  • Work with the Project Lead Mechanical Designer to determine the arrangement of electrical devices on the crane General Arrangement Drawing that is submitted to the customer for approval.
  • Provide crane electrical load requirements for the client electrical engineers use.
  • Specify Electrical Controls Components and Materials that meet the project specifications and requirements.
  • Add Long Lead Electrical Components to the companys PDM software for planning purchasing and crane manufacturing.
  • Specify technical requirements to control vendors and add the requirements to the companys PDM software. Then track and support control design engineering manufacturing delivery and installation.
  • Provide or specify electrical equipment layouts with cable way arrangements for the crane manufacturer.
  • Provide or specify wiring diagrams cable lists and material lists to the crane manufacture.
  • Add locally available electrical devices such as limit switches lights cables cable trays conduits and cable connectors to the companys PDM system and transmit to the companys ERP system for planning purchasing and crane manufacturing.
  • Support production with electrical equipment installation and connection issues and participate in factory functional acceptance tests.
  • Support service personnel and startup engineers with crane installations and crane startups either from the factory or at the crane installation site.

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or applicable work experience.

EXPERIENCE: Entry level position. Must have a basic understanding of Electrical Engineering including school projects internships or industry experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Experience in AutoCAD Electrical and other design tools preferred must have electrical aptitude willing to travel both domestically and internationally as needed based on the business need. Computer skills in MS Office and engineering related programs preferred.
