Systems Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

SUPERVISOR: Director of Information Services

SALARY: 65k75k commensurate with experience

The Systems Engineer is a highly technical role responsible for the design implementation and maintenance of the healthcare centers core infrastructure equipment and systems with a particular emphasis on cybersecurity. The role involves ensuring the stability integrity and security of inhouse voice data video wired and wireless network infrastructure. This role may require availability after hours as needed for network/system maintenance emergencies or to respond to cybersecurity incidents.

  • In conjunction with IT leadership design install and maintain core infrastructure equipment and systems including but not limited to data communication devices storage area networks switched IP network equipment cyber defense and edge network hardware virtual and physical servers network management and monitoring tools surveillance systems and wireless LAN systems.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) developing and implementing strategies to protect the healthcare centers network and information systems against security breaches and attacks.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcarerelated cybersecurity standards and regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and HITECH.Develop and implement strategies for voice systems including IPPBX/VOIP and any digital or analog instruments while coordinating with strategic suppliers when necessary.
  • Designs implements and maintains systems to include call managers PBX transmission equipment VOIP and any digital or analog instruments or works closely with strategic suppliers.
  • Plan design and implement new systems including engineering training and installation plans methods of procedure (MOP) bill of materials and circuit cut sheets as required.
  • Maintain expertise in Microsoft products particularly Active Directory Group Policies Exchange Online Intune and Microsoft 365 applications and configurations.
  • Perform server and security audits system backups and recovery; Assist in developing cybersecurity policies and standards.
  • Respond to system outages coordinating with support vendors and strategic suppliers to resolve issues; Use software and diagnostic hardware tools to troubleshoot complex network systems security and telephony problems.
  • Implement and maintain reliable backup and recovery systems.
  • Manage multifunction devices in addition to standalone printing and dictation equipment.
  • Manage audio/visual equipment and connectivity.
  • Conduct routine testing of all network elements.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all computing and audiovideo equipment including upgrade schedules.
  • Create and maintain documentation on all relevant systems such as network diagrams operation manuals configuration records playbooks and technical procedures.
  • Produce statistical reports as needed.
  • Ensure clear communication with all parties.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

This role requires the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a highpressure environment strong customer service skills and a willingness to adopt new technologies that enhance institutional efficiency. Familiarity with project management principles is preferred. The incumbent must demonstrate strong technical skills in network and systems engineering along with an indepth understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.

The role should be carried out according to the highest ethical and moral standards in adherence to the facilitys corporate compliance plan and all applicable laws. The incumbent must adhere to the facilitys confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI/ePHI) of residents and employees as necessary to perform job duties.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology Cybersecurity or a related field along with professional certifications and a minimum of 3 years handson configuration experience. Prior experience in a healthcare environment is highly beneficial.
