About the Position


WHO WE ARE


The expected salary ranges for this role on hire are:

Permitting and Code Compliance Inspector I: $60335 to $77345

Permitting and Code Compliance Inspector II: $65551 to $96783

Permitting and Code Compliance Inspector III: $71299 to $112369

What Youll Be Doing

Minimum Qualifications

If filled at Permitting & Code Compliance Inspector III Grade 23

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in an appropriate engineering technical or professional field and three 3 years of experience in Commercial/Residential Construction Electrical Inspections Electrical Plan interpretation or related field.

Or

Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland and seven 7 years of experience in residential construction of which one year must have been in a code compliance/enforcement capacity.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Certifications: The Department of Permitting Services maintains a listing of current Departmentrequired certifications for employees classified at the Permitting and Code Compliance Inspector III level.


If underfilled atPermitting & Code Compliance Inspector II Grade 21:

Education: Completion of high school or possession of a High School Certification of Completion recognized by the State of Maryland. A bachelors degree in an appropriate field as shown above is preferred for all positions. For applicants possessing an appropriate degree the experience requirement may be reduced to two years instead of five.

Experience: Five 5 years experience in a technical/professional field appropriate to Commercial/Residential Construction Electrical Inspections Electrical Plan interpretation or related field. At least one 1 year of experience should be in a code compliance/enforcement capacity.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.


If underfilled at thePermitting & Code Compliance Inspector I Grade 19:

Education: Completion of high school or possession of a High School Certification of Completion recognized by the State of Maryland. A bachelors degree in an appropriate field as shown above is preferred for all positions. For applicants possessing a degree in an appropriate area the experience requirement may be reduced to one 1 year instead of three 3 years.

Experience: Three 3 years experience in a technical/professional field appropriate to Commercial/Residential Construction Electrical Inspections Electrical Plan interpretation or related field. At least one 1 year of experience should be in a code compliance/enforcement capacity.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria Interview Preferences

All applicants will be reviewed by OHR for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated Qualified placed on the Eligible List and may be considered for interview. Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are same grade or higher will be placed on Eligible List as a Transfer candidate and may be considered for interview.

Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:


  • Possession of the Maryland Electrical Masters License Journeymans License the International Code Council (ICC) E2 Commercial Electrical Inspect and the E1 Residential Electrical Inspector certifications or some other equivalent certification in electrical inspection.

  • Experience working with electrical installations.

  • Experience reading understanding and interpreting construction plans anddeterminingif installation of theelectrical wiring orequipment is following approved plans.

  • Experience conducting field inspections thatcomprisemethods and techniques of factfinding analysis and resolution of complex problems either independently or as part of a team.
