NEEDED: Radiology Technician
LOCATION: 5756 Hartford & Pointville Rd. Joint Base MDL NJ 08640
SCHEDULE: Mon Fri between 7:30 AM 4:00 PM not to exceed 40 hours per week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Shall be fully licensed to perform radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Must have at least three or more years of experience.
- Must be CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
JOB DUTIES: will include the following but not limited to:
- Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the inmate population at the institution.
- Transmit retrieve radiographic images and reports electronically and scan reports into inmates Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Receive training to retrieve radiographic consults from BEMR and schedule them to perform all radiographic procedures.
- Work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural racial religious and ethnic backgrounds.
- Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs.
- Possess knowledge of basic emergency situations that may occur during special radiographic procedures.
- Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
- Notify Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while patient is undergoing an exam so that additional views or exams can be ordered if needed.
- Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam.
- Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety.
- Independently perform all radiographic imaging
- Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.
- Work with clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
- Act as liaison between radiologist and medic staff.
- Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.
- Develop a working knowledge of the local medical protocols.
- Wear outer protective clothing and abide by the Center for Disease Control universal
- precautions.
- Function in other duties commensurate of a Radiology Technician.
- Computerization and printing of daily log
- Computerization and printing of exam requisitions
- Complete all xray studies ordered by the medical staff in a timely manner.
- Notify medical staff of orders approaching due date
- Transmit xrays to radiologist for interpretation
- Transcribe or scan results to BEMR for physician review
- Possess the ability to identify significant findings that should be urgently reported to the Primary Care Provider Team
- Assist with biennial FDA radiation survey and preparation for Program Review American Correctional Association (ACA) certification and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)
- Perform Biannual quality assurance test on shields aprons and gloves
- Review dosimeter badge reports and maintain records
- Maintain all clinical competencies required by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). This includes general patient care procedures: CPR certification Vital signs Sterile and medical aseptic techniques Venipuncture and Care of patient medical equipment (Oxygen Tank IV Tubing etc.
During periods of downtime the radiology technician is expected to accept assignments within the scope of their knowledge skills and clinical abilities. These tasks include but are not limited to:
- Daily checks of medical equipment and supplies
- Quality assurance audits in BEMR as assigned
- Obtain and record vital signs
- Perform PPE and supply inventory
- Scanning
