The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the Citys evolving criminal justice system participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees visitors volunteers and people in our custody. Importantly safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully reenter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.
The IT Division is in need of a Supervisor of Voice and Data Cable Infrastructure to assist the Director of Voice and Data Cable infrastructure overseeing a team of 5 Technicians responsible for the installation repair and maintenance of all DOC data voice and fiber cable infrastructure installed throughout DOC Facilities and locations in the City of NY. This team responds and repairs service outages in our environment 24X7.
Preferred Skills:
35 years experience overseeing staff doing the installation termination and
certification of Voice Data and Fiber cabling.
3 plus years of individual handson experience installing terminating and
certifying Voice Data and Fiber cable infrastructure.
Experience and knowledge with installing communication Racks cabinets
and cable tray systems. Pulling cable within and inbetween buildings.
Certifications with Voice and Data Cabling Fiber splicing preferred but
not required if adequate experience and knowledge is demonstrated.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science engineering human computer interaction interactive media digital and graphics design data visualization communication or a related field and four years of satisfactory fulltime experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology process methodology and/or domain; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science engineering human computer interaction interactive media digital and graphics design data visualization communication or a related field and six years of satisfactory fulltime experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology process methodology and/or domain; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory fulltime experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology process methodology and/or domain; or
4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 2 or 3 above.
