General Information:
The Office of Residence Life at James Madison University is accepting applications for graduate Case Manager. The Office of Residence Life is committed to designing and maintaining a caring environment that encourages academic success respect personal growth and responsibility to ones community.
The graduate Case Manager reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life for Community Development. Graduate stipend of $10001 plus tuition remission for 9 credit hours per semester.
The graduate Case Manager will assist with tracking residential students in distress in collaboration with the Associate Director of Residence Life and the Dean of Students Office. The graduate Case Manager will collaborate on necessary welfare checkins and follow up. The graduate Case Manager may create and facilitate programming for residential students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Case Management
Assist with tracking residential students in distress in collaboration with the Associate Director of Residence Life and the Dean of Students Office.
Collaborate on necessary welfare checkins and follow up.
Psychoeducational programming program planning and implementation
Outreach events with residence hall staff teams on topics such as mental health mental wellness resilience self management and self care.
Outreach events in residence halls for residential students on topics such as mental health mental wellness resilience self management and self care.
Consultation to the Residential Community
Professional staff (Area Directors) Associate Director)
Residential student staff includes various evenings as needed
Roommate/suitemate/floor groups
Teaching and Training
Grad assists in training of all residence hall staff members in particular Hall Director and Resident Adviser training held in late July through August.
Advising
Individual residence hall staff
Group residence hall staff teams and/or roommate/suitemate/floormate groups
Qualifications:
must be enrolled as a JMU graduate student for theacademic year
demonstration of strong interpersonal leadership and administrative skills necessary
previous experience in college student leadership/advising is preferred (e.g. Resident Adviser Peer Educator Peer Adviser Camp Counselor)
demonstration of high ethical standards and a strong work ethic are a must

Students may apply to a graduate assistantship prior to being accepted into a graduate program. However to be eligible to receive an assistantship upon entry into a graduate program the following criteria must be met:
The student must be conditionally or unconditionally accepted into a graduate program. Students who are provisionally accepted will not be eligible until they achieve conditional or unconditional acceptance into their program.
The students must have an official transcript on file indicating completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or agency
After receiving an assistantship the student must maintain at least a 3.0 graduate GPA in order to retain or reapply for the assistantship.
These are minimum criteria. Graduate program coordinators have the right to impose additional criteria if they see fit.
