About the Organization
Swaniti Initiative aims to strengthen public service delivery by working with state and local governments across South Asia with a strong focus on India. Our interventions have included strengthening scheme implementation by identifying current gaps and limitations providing research support to Honble Members of Parliament about best practices in moving forward and developing datatechnology tools that can back decisionmaking processes. With flagship initiatives like Supporting Parliamentarians in Analysis and Research in Constituencies (SPARC) and Leadership and Engagement Associate in District (LEAD) Swaniti has supported constituency development and district development planning in various parts of the country. At present along with working with 200 Honble Members of Parliamentarians for policy making are working as advisors to state governments to ensure the delivery of schemes to the last mile. Major verticals of our work are climate and sustainability social protection and livelihood.
About Global Climate and Development Institute
The Global Climate and Development Institute (GCDI) is an initiative of the Swaniti Initiative. It was established to tackle the most pressing challenges and harness opportunities for climate action. The GCDI operates at a global scale emphasizing highquality research on climate and development issues. Additionally it actively collaborates with policymakers elected representatives and communities worldwide to address critical climate change concerns.
Job Description
Swaniti Initiative is looking for an Associate FellowData. The person will be responsible for supporting the GCDI research team in carrying out the statistical operation and also doing the data visualization using the standard software. The person will work half of this time on certain projects and the other half on general climate and energy transitionrelated secondary data.
JobResponsibilities
Doing descriptive and statistical analysis of primary and secondary data collected by the research team.
Support the team in data cleaning using STATA and MS Excel
Data visualization for the report blog post or website using Tableau PowerBI Data wrapper or any other visualization software
Assistthe research team in sample design or any other support required by the research team to conduct field study
Working on secondary data for analysis on climate change and energy transition related topics.
Provide statistical support to the team for PowerPoint presentations and report writing
Ability and keenness to work in evolving situations and handle short deadlines if needed.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Requirements
QualificationsRequired
Bachelors or Masters degree in statistics mathematics economics or relevant degree; 37 years of experience; Masters preferred.
Diploma in Data analytics preferred
Open to travel as required for the project.
Skills and Attributes
ArcGIS or QGIS software skill and remote sensing experience desired
Knowledge of Python/R or any other coding software desired
Coursework in statistics is strongly preferred
Experience with household and industry survey data
Proficiency with STATA MSExcel PowerB and any sing tool
Previous experience of cleaning survey data
Eye for detail and a strong sense of numbers.
Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred: familiarity with environmental sustainability energy and/or climate change issues.
