You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe School of Molecular Sciences (SMS) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a fulltime tenureeligible Assistant Professor position in experimental highpressure research with emphasis on the use of multianvil apparatus to do pioneering science applicable to materials geological and planetary questions that will connect to and support the goals of ASUs Facility for Open Research in a Compressed Environment (FORCE). The anticipated start date is August 16 2025.
The School of Molecular Sciences at Arizona State University is an organization of more than 55 faculty members 100 staff and 1400 graduate and undergraduate students who work at the forefront of science and technology innovation and education. SMS influences and impacts broad universitywide initiatives in fundamental science materials energy sustainability manufacturing space exploration health foodwaterclimate security and other endeavors of advanced science and technology. FORCE at ASU is a recently established national center and user facility for high pressure research using new multianvil equipment unique to ASU and in the USA. The new faculty member will advance both scientific and technical goals of FORCE and bring expertise in multianvil high pressure research applied to chemical physical materials and Earth and planetary science. FORCE along with the Center for Materials of the Universe (MoTU) brings together people in many disciplines with two main goals: 1 to discover and understand from a fundamental point of view possible materials in the dazzling variety of planetary environments in our solar system and beyond and 2 to discover and characterize new materials with applications to technology aerospace science and planetaryscience. Materials under extreme conditions including high pressure and high temperature are a unifying theme of FORCE and MotU.
