Primary Purpose of Position:

Do you enjoy leading construction projects and making a lasting impact The Division of Parks and Recreation is seeking aMaintenance Construction Supervisor III to oversee highvalue construction and maintenance projects across the region. In this role you will be managing design agreements contracts and infrastructure improvements while ensuring compliance with state building codes and environmental standards. Youll take the lead on developing contract specifications overseeing bidding processes and monitoring projects from design to final inspection. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Serve as the Construction/Contract Administrator for all division/systemwide design agreements and informal contracts associated with the operations section for the assigned region.
  • Ensure compliance with states building codes NC General Statues and the State Construction Offices submittal bidding monitoring inspection and approval processes for informal contracts.
  • Create and submit highly complex drawings specifications and construction estimates to the Office of State Construction on behalf of the division for review.
  • Meet all state environmental and construction codes and standards.
  • Monitor projects and informal contracts assigned to include the design and construction projects maintenance and demolition projects of the highest complexity in values up to $500000.00.
  • Develop contract specifications hold prebid meetings receive sealed bids award contract projects submit invoices and perform project finals and project close outs
  • Attend preconstruction meetings weekly and monthly progress meetings.
  • Maintain knowledge of park system infrastructure facilities and systems with extensive overnight travel throughout the district on a regular basis
  • Supervise both skilled and unskilled workers and work with various contractors and vendors.

Position/Physical Requirements:
  • Typical work schedule is Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm must be able towork evenings holidays and/or weekends when necessary. This schedule may vary.
  • Must be able to periodically work more than 8 hours a day.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle long distances.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Within 90 days of hire date must have the ability to obtain and maintain:

  • A valid drivers license
  • A valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL)

Within 1224 months of hire date must have the ability to obtain and maintain:

  • Pesticide License
  • First Responder/Medical Responder Certificate
  • S130/S190 Certificate
  • L180 Certificate
  • S212 Certificate
  • CWell License (Drinking Water)
  • Subsurface Wastewater License
  • Spray Irrigation Waste License
  • Waste Water Operator Grade License
  • Industrial Truck (Fork Truck) Certification

Management Preferences:
  • Experience with potable water and/or wastewater systems.
