Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a CNA to join their Special Care Unit. The successful applicant ensures the processing of ancillary department orders. Manages information via telephone call bell and direct conversation by directing to the appropriate person(s). Participates in upstaffing and downstaffing for the present and incoming shift in collaboration with the Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Nurse Manager. Performs CNA functions when requested if applicable. Maintains a positive working relationship with coworkers and other health care professionals. Utilizes excellent customer service skills.


Essential Job Duties:


Unit Secretary Duties include but not limited to:

  1. Maintains unit supplies and equipment to meet patient care needs.
  2. Assists the Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Nurse Manager in determining unit needs on an annual basis.
  3. Assists Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Nurse Manager in problemsolving unit and patient needs.
  4. Manages patient call system and responds appropriately and timely to patient requests.
  5. Provides continuity of patient orders daytoday and shifttoshift with appropriate followup.
  6. Expediently manages STAT orders.
  7. Timely entry of all patient data and results. Notifies Dietitian of NPO/Hold TPN tube feeding and consult requests.
  8. Expediently communicates physician order information to appropriate staff including stat orders. Timely communication of diagnostic work to patients assigned nurse.
  9. Greets families/visitors Physicians and other staff providing support direction and information.
  10. Ensures that adequate numbers of admission packets are available on the unit.

CNA Duties include but not limited to:

  1. Promotes patient safety and abides by the patient fall risk program and completes fall risk rounding at least twice per shift.
  2. Obtains and documents vital signs and reports abnormal findings to patients nurse.
  3. Performs daily weights and reports abnormal findings to patients nurse.
  4. Appropriately documents ADLs ambulation intake and output vital signs weights safety rounding and any other patient care activities performed throughout shift.
  5. Ensures that patients have fresh water while appropriately observing patients with NPO status or fluid restrictions.
  6. Assists patients with activities of daily living along with providing them with supplies.
  7. Assists in ambulating patient according to physician order.
Requirements

Requirements

1. Must have an active valid CNA certificate in Maine.

2. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

3. Obtains BLS certification within 1 year of hire into this position and maintains current certification thereafter.

Schedule:

With consideration to our patients and staff needs you may need to work on days evenings nights weekends and/or holidays and may need to float to other units.
