About AIIM
African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) is one of the preeminent private equity infrastructure managers in Africa having raised over USD3.9bn in capital over the last two decades. With 5 offices on the continent AIIM has invested in more than 22 African countries representing over 74 investments across the Power Digital infrastructure Transportation and Midstream sectors.
AIIM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI) one of the largest private alternative investment managers in Africa with assets under management of USD7.6 billion. OMAI manages private equity and impact funds as well as infrastructure funds through AIIM. Our investment approach goes Beyond the Obvious and enables us to uncover opportunities others may overlook. The Fund
Off the back of our successful track record in conceptualizing and raising new infrastructure vehicles AIIM has been selected as the preferred manager for a new USD 200250 million target vehicle the African Transition Acceleration Fund 1 (The Fund).
The Fund intends to focus on early stage investing in the African energy transition landscape with a focus on 3 core thematic verticals including multiple subsectors broadly in the assetheavy climate infra space:
The Fund will back infrastructure platforms with seasoned teams and an identified preconstruction pipeline investing in both overheads development costs and construction equity to enable the platforms to reach scale. The Fund will also invest in scaleup capital funding needs for growth companies for example in the electric mobility or energy efficiency sectors. The mandate is panAfrica including north Africa.

The Role:
An opportunity has arisen for a talented Investment Manager to join a dynamic newly created niche team working in the African Energy Transition landscape at AIIM. In this role you will run diligence processes on deals work with external service providers manage the analysts/associates in the team and attend deal meetings.

Develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of the financial management and/or control process.
Analyze assess and quantify the risks associated with products individual applications business activities and the market to determine whether any risk is within the agreed risk appetite. Undertake tactical risk modeling.
Use data from a wide range of sources to analyze key themes and identify possible impacts on the business.
Create a plan to deliver and review financial policies guidelines and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
Analyze and forecast investment or market trends by designing and developing nonroutine investment models. May also manage specific assigned portfolios while helping to develop investment policy.
Recommend changes to policies processes standards and practices that would improve operational support.
Develop and/or deliver a plan for significant aspects of internal communications with guidance from senior colleagues.
Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures resolving complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling others to take appropriate actions.
Write and edit material for various target populations tailoring the tone and content to match the needs and expectations of each audience.
Manage relationships with internal clients and act as a business partner to them building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust and managing the deployment of appropriate internal and/or external resources to support in delivering business strategy and plans.
Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology policy regulation or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and indepth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development attending conferences and reading specialist media.
