Job Description
- Inspecting trucks cranes bulldozers and other heavy equipment for proper performance.
- Perform electrical hydraulic and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance.
- Service repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive equipment such as container truck lifts reach stackers front end loaders cranes and other special purpose types of equipment.
- Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment.
- Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs.
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests;Provides instruction and training in the proper methods and processes necessary to perform equipment repair inspection and preventive maintenance identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Cleaning lubricating and conducting routine services on heavyduty vehicles
- Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets
manufacturers specifications. - Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments like winches blades and side booms.
- Maintain a schedule for preventative maintenance on all equipment providing for
lubrication replacement of tires and tune ups. - Performing major repair work when necessary.
- Provides instruction and training in the proper methods and processes necessary to
perform equipment repair inspection and preventive maintenance. - Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Postsecondary certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic (a plus).
- Minimum 3 years experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy diesel equipment or equivalent.
- Understanding of computer testing technologies.
- Welding experience (a plus).
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.
- Valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work afterhours if required.
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift heavy machinery.
