Pay Rate: $25.06 $28.64/hour plus Wage Enhancement Grant $2.00/hr) Split Shift Premium $2.00/hr) & Canada Wide Early Learning & Child Care (up to $1.00/hr for RECEs where applicable)
*Candidates must be available to work a split shift in a before and after school program.
Position Type & Required Availability:
- Casual Supply status (variable hours): Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 5 assigned shifts every month.

Position Summary:
To ensure operational and curriculum requirements are met while applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education. To deliver a developmentally appropriate inquiry/play based program while ensuring compliance with all internal and external guidelines policies and procedures. Supports the organizations vision mission and guiding values. This is a fully incentre position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Applies professional knowledge of child development and current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Cares program statement.
- Adheres to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined by the Ontario College of Early childhood Educators (if applicable).
- Keeps team and supervisor apprised of compliance issues or problems related to governing regulation and internal policy.
- Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks toileting diapering dressing etc.
- Participates in professional development opportunities staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Completes program charts daily logs reports and other administration tasks as required.
- Provides guidance to assistant educators students and volunteers as needed.
- Models expectations for student teachers from colleges universities secondary schools etc. Completes documentation from Educational Institutions as required.
- Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Attends parent and community meetings as needed.
- Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
- Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members school personnel and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children.
- Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college or university.
- A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
- Health assessment and uptodate record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
- Uptodate registration with the College of ECEs.
- Uptodate certification in CPRC and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
- Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
- Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm professional manner.
- Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families coworkers and other professionals.
- Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
- Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce and Storypark.
- Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling pushing pulling bending and carrying.
