Ipswich Girls Grammar School including Ipswich Junior Grammar School offers high quality nondenominational education to students from Kindy to Year 12 (coeducation from Kindy to Year 6 girls only Years 712. Established in 1892 the School is one of eight original Grammar Schools in Queensland. THE OPPORTUNITY
Ipswich Girls Grammar School is one of ten high performing schools included in Queenslands premier schoolgirls sporting competition the QGSSSA. Sporting excellence is a key focus of the schools growth strategy and we are currently seeking Cocurricular Sport Coaches and Sports Coordinators across a range of disciplines to support the 2025 School year including:
Sport Coaches Term 24 2025
- Volleyball
- Rhythmic Gymnastics
- Badminton
Sport Coordinator Term 23 2025
- Volleyball
As a sports coach your primary role will be to provide expert training for athletes. Youll be assisting their skills development and ensuring peak performance and fitness are achieved during crucial times i.e. competitions tournaments matches trials and qualifying events.
The Cocurricular Sport Coach is paid on a casual basis (minimum twohour shifts). Coaching commitments are usually a minimum of four hours per week which comprises at least one training session and one game play per week. Pay rates vary according to age and qualifications and range between $22.00 $50.00 per hour.
These positions will ideally suit experienced coaches who possess relevant and current coaching qualifications and a current Paid Queensland Working with Children check (Blue Card).
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
To be successful in this role you will be a person who is professionally competent and brings a passion for sport to the School and
- Assist the Director of Sport by acting as Coach and strategically planning the training programthat develops individual and/or team skills and the schedule of the sport.
- Be punctual and prepared for training sessions and matches always providing professional supervision of players.
- Have a passion for your sport working with young people and the involvement of students in sport.
- Provide reports on player performance and team organization at the end of season to the relevant sport Coordinator.
- Offer individual constructive and positive feedback regularly to players to help them improve performances
- Be a positive optimistic and enthusiastic leader with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Liaise with players and the Coordinator in response to:
- Training sessions
- Team Selection
- Conduct of players and/or teams
