Job Description
PRICE ELECTRIC is expanding its underground utility installation services in Central Iowa and Western Iowa and looking for an experienced onsite field leader and operator to supervise crews and ensure jobs are performed safely timely and correctly. If you have planned and led large directional boring plowing excavation and fiber optic installation and testing jobs and will operate equipment as needed to complete work this is a great opportunity to grow your career.
As a primary contact for internal project teams as well as customers local and state authorities and fellow subcontractors of assigned projects a Foremans top responsibilities are Safety Compliance; Technical Expertise; Leadership and Supervision; Plan and Schedule Resources; Lean Construction; Communication and Documentation; and Results Achievement. Primary responsibilities include:
- Planning for and accountably maintaining a safe work environment that complies with trenching excavation DOT and other safety rules and company policies
- Coaching mentoring and training team members to plan accurate well organized work setups; proficiently operate secure and maintain various equipment and tools; set up and maintain traffic control; etc.
- Attending large project meetings from initial startup through weekly updates and closeout
- Understanding work scope in detail
- Creating and following a schedule under Project Manager direction and updating plans as changes are needed
- Communicating clear plans and updates to the crew
- Managing material labor and equipment to ensure work is performed to planned specs
- Effectively communicating with the project team including serving as a point person for Requests for Information Change Orders etc.
- Conducting inspections to ensure work is performed to high quality standards using safe and lean work practices
- Consistently using the construction management system to complete tasks daily logs observations timesheets emails etc.
- Identifying and troubleshooting issues and involving the right team members to make sound decisions
- Working extended hours during peak times up to and including nights and weekends
- Maintaining safe driving habits and a clean driving record
- Capably managing complex and technical installations including operating underground utility equipment with the team as needed
- Performing additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- 4 years of experience as a HDD Locator and/or Drill Operator and operating mini excavators/backhoes skid loaders trenchers small power equipment etc.
- Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement
- Clear communication skills to speak and write to diverse groups
- Knowledge of HDPE Fusion processes
- Understand plans specifications manuals and schematics
- Apply basic math and measurements to calculate setups material needs and more
- Resultsoriented field leader who builds effective teams
- Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. stand walk climb squat kneel sit use feet and use hands for frequent grasping pushing and pulling
- Work outside in all weather conditions
